My two adult daughters, Sarah and Emily have two sayings for me. First,
"Mom thinks that the answer to world peace is through exercise," and
"Mom would be just as happy living in a log cabin with no electricity."
They are definitely right. Modern technology has always been a mystery
to me. Show me how to use and I can can catch on. Give me a book to
read on the latest computer, VCR, microwave oven, etc. and watch me
cringe. My fear of computers was huge. Basically it was the fear of
the unknown.

Recently, I was reading through a joke sent to me by e-mail. I must have been one of 200 e-mail
addresses listed at the top. Normally I would not consider wasting my time doing so, but for some
reason my eyes were drawn to the long list of addresses. Lo and behold, a name caught my eye. One
of names was David Augenblick. My maiden name was Augenblick, not a common name by any stretch of the
imagination. I do have a cousin by that name but the e-mail address
wasn't the same. So I e-mailed to that address. It turned out to be a
young man living in San Francisco whose father is my second cousin.
Mark and I hadn't seen each other since around 1965. He and his family
are from New Hope, Pennsylvania. My family is from New Jersey. We used
to drive there yearly to spend a weekend on mark's parents/grandparents
farm, but some how the weekend trips stopped.

Imagine my surprise whenI received a phone call soon after sending this e-mail and Mark was on the
other end. A month later we met for lunch. 34 years had passed yet
we still recognized each other. To my surprise he lives about an hour away, in Virginia (I live in
Bethesda, MD.) He has a son involved in theatre in San Francisco. I have a daughter involved in
theatre in Atlanta. He has a daughter who is a Special Education teacher. So do I. It was the
beginning of a wonderful renewed relationship. In the
meantime, Mark gave me the e-mail addresses of his siblings and we have all contacted each other.
